Konstantin Aseev GM Konstantin Aseev annotates the games of the 6th round:

World Chess Championship

Anand - Ivanchuk
In this game White has evaded from basic continuations connected with d2-d4, for the benefit of 4. Bb5, in reply to what Ivanchuk has used rare enough continuation 4... Qc7, applied him still in an old game with Yurtaev (Frunze, 1988), and which despite of sad experience of application apparently is perspective for the equation. On 6-th move more often met "poisonous" 6. Re1, that was rejected by Anand probably because of the tactical reasons, taking into account what to this continuation the contender best is ready. White has played 6.d3, but after an excellent retort 9.. N:e4 Black has all in order - opening's problems are solved and remained only to finish development, against what White has not found objections and the game quickly has come to peace outcome.

Absolutely struggle in the game Ponomariov - Svidler in another way proceeded. The variation played in this game, is probably well familiar to the contenders, so for example Svidler played (truth already for white) versus Kir. Georgiev( Istanbul, 2000), having selected on 12 move preliminary Kb1 and only after 12... Bb7 has taken on b5, but after the several unsuccessful decisions has lost. In same game the struggle went similarly game P. Smirnov - S. Shipov (Championship of Russia, 2001) down to 18 move. By the way it is necessary to notice that puts much questions 16... R:a2 (probably there is any theory) anyway I am not taken at once to approve something concrete. The analysis of the mentioned game P. Smirnov - S. Shipov allowed to judge variation as favorable enough for black, But Ruslan Ponomariov has tried to strengthen White play, having selected 19.g:h5 (instead of 19.h4). Further struggle proceeded with variable success. Despite of the queen's exchange game here carries sharp character.
27-th White's move e4-e5 - sharp play for a victory, it was more cautious to move 27.c4 and if 27... Nc7 then 28.h5.
After 27... Rg8 the black pieces were sharply made active and he has good counter-play, than he has created to himself " a zone of safety ", though b7-knight and outside of game, but it is an extra-piece.
I believe that the contenders lacked time, than and is explained a large quantity of the misses. The similar basic problems White has created to himself by the move 33. Kb4, then for Black it was possible to adjust figured interaction - 33... Ne4.After 34.c4 Black has received powerful chances for a victory, but I am not taken to approve as far as it was better 34.h6. Certainly, it is so much preliminary, exhausting stages and greater advantage it is difficult to realize. Here again Peter did not use the turned up chances.
We shall be with impatience to expect the further, fascinating duels these two young, talented chess players.
