Adams - Dreev
In this game was played quiet variant in Caro-Kann defence conducting to to numerous exchanges. White try to render pressure on Q-side where has pawn advantage. Black opposes this by counterplay in the centre with the help of passed pawn "d".
Black, having offered pawn, made active the king and the rook and has achieved a drawn game.

Piket - Gelfand
Nimzovich defence here was played. After 9-th move of white the position was created, in which black usually developed the figures under the circuit c6, a5 and Na6, waiting Program move white f3 and only after that advanced pawn on c5. By the ninth move 9... c5 black give to struggle other contents, preferring free development of pieces.
Further there was a change of pawn structure - instead of isolated pawn isolated pair c6-d5 was formed. Moves Ne4 and Qg5 black has designated activity on Royal flank. Before white there was a task to cause the further simplifications that without handicapes to begin to attack pawns c6.d5.
The brisk figured game has resulted in a mutual exhaustion of forces.

Morozevich - Lautier
In this meeting the Sicilian defence with the move А3 is played. There was an early queen's exchange. White keeps some pressure. Black has to solve of a problem, connected with development of Q-side's pieces, in particular of bishop А8.
It was possible for Lautier by accurate defence to neutralize white pressure and the game was close to peace outcome. But in the further struggle Lautier unreasonably has arranged the pawns on the fields of colour of the bishop.
In a position after a white move 43... Kc2 white threaten to move Kb3-a4, Bb4 and if in this the moment black plays Kd6, white win after 1. Bc5 Kc5 2. Kb3 Kd4 3. Kb4 Ke4 4.c5 Kd5 5.cb6 Kd6 6. Kd5 e4 7. Kd6 e3 8.b7.
After break 49.c5 black was mistaken, at once having lost the game. More persistent was 49.. Bc5 50. Bc5 bc5 51.b6 Kd7 52. Kb5 c4 53. Kc4 Kc6 54.b7 Kb7 55. Kd5 Kb6 56. Ke6 Kc6 57. Kf7 Kd4 58. Kg7 Ke4 59. Kf6 Kf4 60.g5 e4 61.gh6 e3 62.h7 e2 63.h8-Q e1-Q64. Qh6 and white keeps chances for the win in view of a unsuccessful position of the black king.

Van Wely - Grischuk
Here white in one of versions of Tarrasch defence in Queen's gambit on 16 move has "yawned" pawn. Now hard struggle for a drawn game is necessary him. His problems consist not only in absence of pawn, but also in easing a position of castle.
Further white instead of "it is "beautiful" to arrange knight on А4, have wanted after Rc4 to carry out b4 and to receive real chances of a drawn game, but black has prevented this by Rb8.
Van wely's move R:c5 has tried to cause crisis and to receive sufficient compensation for the exchange, but Grischuk by a precise move h4 has distracted white knight from the centre and his position became won.
