Konstantin Sakaev GM Konstantin Sakaev annotates the games of the 4th round:

Adams - Zhong 1-0
Adams has used a very interesting idea 17.Qс1!, preparing the transfer of Knight to e4. Due to that he could get a sufficient advantage. Already in 3 moves his position became won. I am sure Adams will win.

Bareev - Shirov 1-0
All the game White had just a minimal advantage and the game was close to be drawn. But then Shirov started to play creatively, his Knight got stuck on a1. White has to win.

Kramnik - Svidler 1-0
Svidler did not dare to take on b2 on the 8th move and has got the difficult ending. Very likely that Kramnik oversighted the lunge 16...Nh5!, after which the game is close to draw. Contenders are still fighting, Kramnik is trying to press, but the draw in my opinion is inevitable.
Svidler has lost worse, but drawn ending. Instead of 39...a5 it was more logical 39...Re7 and further Ke5 or Kg5-h4. Rough mistake is 42...Re3? It was much better 42...Re5 with following Kf6-e7 and f7-f5.

Anand - Bologan 1/2
Typical draw in Petrov defence, contenders checked the theoretical preparation of each other.

Timman - Van Wely 0-1
Timman outplayed his contender in opening, he could develop strong initiative, but as it happens with him lately he could not keep the tension of struggle. The crisis has come in this game, I think Van Wely will win, although position is still not clear.

Topalov - Akopian 1-0
A well known ending with a minimal advantage at White happened in this game. White could increase his advantage by gradual movement of his pawns on Q-side. Pawn structure of Black on K-side decreased in value and cannot be set in motion. Topalov has good chances for a win.

Sokolov - Leko 1/2
In the position after 13th move the success of Black depended on the possiblity of the break b5-b4. Leko had no time for that and as result his position became poor. However, he could reduce White's initiative and his chances for a draw are rather high.
