Evgeny Alekseev GM Evgeny Alekseev annotates the games of the 12th round:

Hello, dear chess lovers!
Kramnik - Kasparov 1/2
Of course In the 12th round the central game is the game Kramnik - Kasparov . Opponents played very rarely with each other lately and what is more they do not play often in tournaments at all. That's why each their game has such a great interest. Besides, one should remember that Kasparov has still a negative score against Kramnik.
Accepted Queen's gambit is played. Kramnik is playing in his favourite style, preventing Kasparov to use one of his strongest side - home opening preparation. After Queens exchange the game passed into ending, which by the way opponents played in the match of 2000 year. Kramnik is going to play this position without especial risk, taking into account that positional play is not the favourite of Kasparov.
Kasparov has fallen into a deep and long thinking, since the ending is not so simple as it seems from the first glance. One should recall that Black had certain problems in the match between these opponents in 2000.
White could make some problems for Black, Kramnik likes to play such positions. The struggle promises to be prolonged. White will try to use his little positional advantage due to the pawn weaknesses of Black on Q-side.
There was a strong move Nd5 and due to delay with development it's dangerous to take g7-pawn because then would follow f6, otherwise in case of trading of the Black's Knight for the White's Bishop, Black plays Be5 and position is equal completely. Due to that opponents agreed fro a draw.

Topalov - Leko 1/2
Anti-Cheliabinsk variation is played here. This variation is very popular in recent time. White is going to press on "g" file or to push d3-d4. The purposeof Black is to trade as many pieces as possible or in his turn to push d6-d5. At whole position is close to be equal.
The game is played interestingly. Black has started actions on K-side where White should attack. If Black will be able to block position and prevent White's f4-f5 then he is ok, if not then his pieces will be awkward.
Numerous exchanges happened. After that both sides have mutual weaknesses. Position is level and opponents did not tempt fate and agreed for a draw.

Vallejo - Radjabov 0-1
This game seems to me the most unpredicted. Both opponents are young and ambitious, but so far noone of them has at least one victory in this tournament. In Cheliabinsk variation Radjabov one more time has sacrificed the pawn by move 15...d5 and has got a certain compensation for that, the next moves will show if he has something more.
As it turned out the tactical variations were in favour of Black. After White's Knight transfer to e3, Black changed the Knight and then the blow Bxg2 followed.
After that the game passed into ending where Black has some initiative, but the most likely result is a draw.
Probably 43...Be6 with idea Rh4 gave more chances for a win, although and now Black's position is more preferable.
Vallejo made a blunder by move 46.b4, he overlooked that after 46...f5 impossible to play 47.ef due to 47...Bd5, and White had to allow black pawn on f4, and with such passed pawn Black has to win.
After 51...Bg6 result is clear, with such poor King White cannot survive, 2 connected passed pawns of Black determine his decisive advantage.
