Sergei Ionov GM Sergey Ionov annotates the games of the 6th round:

In the game Shirov - Radjabov the youngest in the tourament participant has chosen King's Indian defence, which is not so often played in games of high level events. At least the most experienced participant practically does not play this opening lately.
And today Kasparov has prefered solid Slav defence playing against Topalov , moreover he did not give up the center on the 4th move by 4. ...dc4, prefering popular 4 ...a6. Position after 9th move already appeared in the practice of Kasparov (Sasikiran-Kasparov,Bled 2002). Then Black had won the game surely, seems that's why decision of Topalov to repeat the variation forced Kasparov to fall into deep thinking. Kasparov gained d5-square for his pieces after White's e2-e4. On the 14th move he prefered to retreat by Knight on d7 - 14...Кd7, taking e5-square(where White intended to place his Knight) under control. Now Black is going to finish his development after Bd5,e6,Bе7.
The pawn structure transformed, now White will try to press on the K-side of Black due to his strong e5-pawn, however I don't think White has real chances for an attack because of the absence of Knights on the board and besides strong Bishop d5 cements position of Black very well.
After 24. ..Qg3 Kasparov ensured himself from problems by Queens exchange. More over after 25.Qg3 Qg3 26.Rе2 white pawn "a" hangs unexpectedly. 26....Bа2, although after 27. b3 Bb3 28. Rb1 white Rook penetrates on the 7th horizontal.

Shirov and Radjabov quickly have played variation where White has no sufficient successes. Radjabov already played position, which happened after 20th move (Szeberenyi-Radgabov,Budapest 2000,0:1), but now Shirov has prepared a novelty 21.Bb2 - trying to make an attacking duet Q+B on the diagonal a1-h8.
Radjabov decided to close diagonal for dangerous dark-squared Bishop by 22... d4, but opened other diagonals for light-squared Bishop and Shirov immediately thrown his h-pawn to attack position of Black's King.
It's difficult to estimate this position. Certainly White has enough compensation for exchange. After 26.h5 position will be more open and it will be not so easily to find good defence from the attack of the strong White's Bishops. Probably Black has to give back an exchange to quell them.
The tension of struggle is increasing. On the 29th move White could play 29. Qd3 Rе6 30. Rе6 Qе6 31. Bс6 Qе1 32. Kh2 Qе5 33. Kh3 Qh5 34. Kg3 Qg5 with a draw. Instead of that White transfered his Bishop to c1, attacking h6-pawn.
After combination, which was started on the 30th move, the game lead to the position where White has good chances for a win due to his connected passed pawns f and g.
Shirov's pawn supported by the Queen and the King unswervingly are moving to a fond aim. One don't see what could detain them.
Shirov has joined to Leko after a beautiful and important win. Now there are two leaders at the tournament.

Leko against Vallejo refused to play 1 ...с5. The Scotch is played and very soon for a such popular opening White has used a logical novelty on the 11th move already - 11.Qс2 intending to set up the battery Q+B on the diagonal b1-h7 and at the same time defending c4-pawn, which after d7-d5 could be vulnerable.
Vallejo just needs to castle and then the problems of Black will be more difficult. It's not so easily for him to find good work for the Knight b6.
Leko could to regroup his pieces successefully. Bishop b4 disturbs white Rook to move. Queen has good position on h6 and Bishop c8 is in play as well. If ed6 then the Rook a5 will play effectively on the 5th horizontal.
Vallejo after 22.Bh7! could get some advantage. In the final position after 25. ...Bd3 26.Rfd1 Bс4 27. Qb4 chances of White are better, but probably he was in zeitnot and that's why he decided to offer a draw, which of course was accepted.
