Computer Chess Encyclopedia is an application presenting the most convenient way to overview and analyse information; included is the recently developed Russian Encyclopedia of chess openings (similar to the "Modern Chess Opening"). Opening theory progresses so quickly that the well-known Yugoslavian Encyclopedia of openings, in spite of re-edition, interests us only as historical reference. Digitized computer presentation of information allows easy updates to be circulated by diskettes, making the database absolutely current. Thanks to the Computer Chess Encyclopedia chessplayers can stay current with leading-edge opening theory, as well as obtaining an extensive depth of fundamental chess material. Compared to paper editions, Computer Chess Encyclopedia has other advantages: Shahcom Company developed a special application to work with Computer Chess Encyclopedia, obviating the need for expensive programs like ChessBase, NIC BASE or Chess Assistant, and which is oriented to work with chess databases. The program is an automated workshop having no analogues, for chessplayers and analysts. Authors of the Encyclopedia include outstanding grandmasters, leading theorists, opening specialists and variation experts, among them are Y.Balashov, A.Beliavsky, A.Vyzhmanavin, E.Sveshnikov, V.Epishin, I.Zaitsev, S.Makarichev, A.Khalifman, V.Chekhov. The first volume includes open openings, the second - half-open openings, and the following three - closed openings. Each volume consists of two diskettes.
